Plugged in Dell power cord. When unplugging Lap top shuts down. My aunts lap top so I order new battery from Dell, install it and check out operation Lap top says not charging stays at 25%. I unplug stays on from what power new battery has. Plug connects to mother board. Could I have an issue that replaces board? Service tag 8C903C2 Model P24T

Often times in this case, the power port itself is broken inside or one or more of the solder joints is cracked. Sometimes you can wiggle the power cord into just the right position to get it to make a connection, which is a rather temporary solution. To fix it requires removing the motherboard so you can get to both sides of it, and repair/replace the power port. It's not really hard to do, but it does take quite a bit of time and patience to do.

The way to avoid this scenario is to make insert and remove the power connector straight in and straight out. Any wiggling it around can eventually break it, or break it loose from the motherboard.
