My L400 will only start when on mains power despite a fully charged battery. It will however start on battery for a few minutes after being on mains power but once left for twenty minutes or so it win't start on battery.
Have bought a new battery - problem persists

Running XP sp2 but same problem existed with 2000

    any ideas?
    thanks

Thom: it sounds like you may have a problem with charging the battery.
You say it won't start on battery after you let it set for about 20 minutes. Unplugged from Mains?
How do you know it is fully charged?

    Hi
I know it is charged because when I start it on mains the power meter shows immediately that the battery is fully charged.
