Yesterday my second hand laptops hdd died. Ordered a kingston a400 ssd 480gb to replace it. I have installed it however, the load up screen shows no boot device found press any key to reboot.

I have gone into bios setup and done some of the things suggested such as boot order etc. My device has been recognised and shows up as the installed hdd. Guessing this is because theres no OS installed on the ssd but not sure how to get that on there given the old hdd is dead. This was a windows 7 upgraded to 10 by the person i bought it from.

Hello and welcome to TSG!!

A new drive (SSD or HDD) comes blank. No OS. You will need to install whatever you want. In this case, you want Win10.

You'll need a working PC to download Win10 and create the USB bootable drive to install it. Look here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10. Since Win10 was already installed, it should automatically activate. If you are asked for a Product Key, ignore it for now. Once completed, you should be fine.
