My laptop has been acting up lately. I will be working and suddenly the system will freeze. No matter what I do, there will be no response. Cntl+Alt+Delete does not work. I have to press the power button to turn off the laptop. Sometimes, when it boots up, it gives me the blue screen asking if it should use the last restore or reboot normal. I always reboot normal. Sometimes the reboot will hang too and I will have to turn off the laptop by pressing the power button. Sometimes everything will be OK. Can it be my harddrive is dying? I also notice for the past week that my NOD32 has been abending. Can this be a software issue and not XP or my harddrive?

System: Dell Latitude D600 XP Pro SP3

    Thanks for your help.

Uninstall NOD32. I've seen that software causing so many problems, not as much as avira though.

NOD32 is my anitvirus. I have been using it for a few years and never had problems with it until this past week or so. I am concern about removing it.

Perhaps uninstalling it and reinstalling it?
