Dell problem

    Can anyone tell me how to get a reinstallation cd from dell. I have lost mine and all I get is the run around. dimension 2300 xp home.

    This is a problem with all the Laptop makers. How do you prove that the computer is really yours.
    If you have the original purchase reciept or sales order send a copy to Dell with a letter explaining that the original CDs have been lost. This worked for me.

    Currently Dell provides a replacement CD if the computer is less that 21 days old. From what I see on the Dell forums, attempting to buy one may result in 12-15 hours on the phone to India, mostly waiting in line after being transferred. One thing they don't do is make anything easy in Customer Service.
