you can turn the screen on some PCs

you need to use one of the arrow keys

Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Up > will rotate your screen up
Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Down > will rotate your screen down
Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Right > will rotate your screen right
Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Left > will rotate your screen left

Thanks Etaf. I managed to get that sorted, and now every time I restart it the task bar increase in to half the size of the screen. I have tried locking the task bar but the task bar refuses to stay atthe size that i want it it end up half way up the screen. any ideas on how to correct it.

    Thanks

this is on xp - correct
as you move up the task bar and onto the desktop the mouse pointer should change > to a double headed arrow - when it does > left click and then drag down

    what does that mean ?

can you take a screen shot

so moving the taskbar down and locking works - but changes on a reboot

I went to my sisters on Friday, with the help of the 'Good Tech Guys ' it is now fixed - as I said its a Dell 3000 P4 with a 1/2 gb ram - Before I try upgrading it does anyone know how many ram slots there are. Instead of being screws in the back so that youn can inspect them, it has rivits I would like to know before I break the seals ....
So In A Nut shell I require info on.
The mobo and its ram capacity.
Speed of the Ram and cost.

    Thanks

may get a slight increase of performance with 1Gb of memory - are you running out of memory generally

if you scan here - it may tell you exactly what's possible
    http://www.crucial.com/
    use the scanner tool

    documentation here
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/SYSTEMS/dim3000/en/index.htm#printed_documentation

do you have a service tag number on a label on the PC
    http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=267748

run http://www.piriform.com/speccy that should also provide some configuration information
