I have a desktop computer that will not connect to the internet. I have tried 2 wireless cards and one wired ethernet adapter and none of them work. The wireless cards pick up the router and allow me to connect to it. They show up with excellent signal but always display "limited or no connectivity". I am pretty sure that the problem is software not hardware as the 3 different cards would not connect. Any ideas on how to fix this?

(I was thinking about trying a repair xp install but I don't have anything to back my data onto first. Is this a bad idea?)

Sounds like you need to repair your winsock, use a friends computer to download the winsock fix, try that first before repairing windows and restart your router after you repair your winsock, that happened to me before and repairing winsock fixed it
