Desktop gadgets in windows 7 stopped working

    Hi
    the desktop gadgets stopped working a while back , around 2-3 months but i didn't pay any attention then, now i need them and they arent displayed correctly, for example the clock shows a black box with a stationary needle, the cpu meter shows a white box, etc etc. can anyone help? Here is a screen shot for reference

    Microsoft declared that desktop gadgets are unsafe, maybe they disabled them with a Windows update.

    Good thought, but mine are still working and I have all the updates. :)

    Have you deleted them and then re-added?

    There are Microsoft gadgets that come with Windows 7...and [I suspect] there are non-Microsoft gadgets that are designed by unknown sources/people that may not be stable nor considered to be safe to use. I would think that the handful of gadgets that comes with Windows 7 are stable and safe. All the other gadgets - who knows.........
