I run multiple XP systems, both home and professional versions. Two systems aren't used a lot but are always left in a running state using the photo option as a screen saver. After 2 or 3 days when you hit the space bar or any key you should return to your normal desktop. In my case when the space bar or other key is hit, only partial bits and pieces of the desktop return.

I have tried several methods to restore the desktop like putting into and out of hibernation to no avail. The last option is to re-boot the system. Once i hit the restart option the desktop fully refreshes but it's too late at that point.

Does anyone know how to recover without re-booting?

    Thanks,

    Roy
