I have a Linksys wireless router and I can connect both my laptops through it, but I cannot get my desktop to connect wireless-ly. I'm not setting up a network, that's not what I'm going for here, just sharing the wireless connection. All the machines are running XP and are Dells.

does the desktop have it's wireless nic configured?
Look in the system tray for the wi-fi network icon and see what ssid is listed, if any. If there are none, look on the laptop for the ssid it's using. If you didnt rename it when you setup the router, it's probably called linksys.

I'm not sure what you mean by SSID, but it does show that the family wireless connection is available and that it is at "Excellent" strength.
