I have a device that is not recognised, and would like to know how to diagnose this hardware.

I have attached a screen shot of the picture in device manager.

    Any suggestions will appreciated.

The unknown device is either a modem or, more likely, a sound card. If the sound card is integrated into the motherboard (normal nowadays) then run your motherboard driver disk and let it install all the drivers. Should fix the problem.

Of course if it's a plug in card then you need the manufacturer's drivers. Go to their website and download them.
