I was having a modem that was slow to connect as far as how long it took to connect so I went to hp and downloaded a driver update for my computer modem and when I shut down and restarted it couldn't find the modem so I did a system recovery then in my device manager it shows a ? by other devices and when you click on that is opens up another ? and says Freecom USB-IDE controller I deleted it and restarted and it found new hardware and I told it to look everywhere and it couldn't find it so it still has a yellow ? beside it and I am not sure what it is and where to find a driver. I am running 98 se and I reinstalled that after I did the recovery and it still it not right. I did get my modem where it is connecting better. I would love any help you could give me. Thanks Jan

I figured it out I have an external cd writer and it was needing the driver for it. But I still don't know why when I downloaded a new driver for my modem it messed everything up. What is was doing was connecting then it would take a long time for it to finally start checking email or going to a web page the bytes sent and received we really low and then it would get going and do fine sometimes I would have to disconnect and try again. Thanks Jan
