Device Memory - misc. files partition

Recently my Android 4.4 ran out of available space in the internal memory compartment. When checked, the misc. files partition was said to be occupied by ca. 1GB of data(screenshot attached); but tapping on that tab to see the details(the 2nd screenshot) got me puzzled -- the nos. only added up to well under 400MB!
- Please enlighten me about the
discrepancy(?);
- Is there anything I can do with
this partition, say for e.g.
deleting the cache, to free some
space?
