Is there such a thing as an ADSL line tester (apart from a computer of course)?
I have a laptop, Voyager 1020 adapter and a voyager 2000 modem/router to wirelessley connect to the internet. My problem started 2 weeks ago when the house was struck by lightning. Since then I cannot connect to the internet. I have tried various tests, but in the final analysis the fault is either; the laptop adapter, the modem/router or the BT line. Pinging and tracing indicate my adapter and modem/router are communicating, but when I ping the BT server (at 10.0.0.138) I get a 'net undetectable' message.
BT say the line is OK - but I'm not so sure, as the bloke next can't connect either (he's tried two ADSL modems).
Ideally I would like to test the line independently of my hardware setup. I was thinking perhaps of a device that plugs into the BT socket that performs a physical test on the line itself. If such a device were available, and cheap enough I would buy one.
Thanks in advance.
