    Ok, getting a little frustrated. Got a ThinkPad PII 600E, 366, W98, w/190ram.
Thing is, I just had the MB crash on my old one (TP600, 266) and got an upgraded board/bottom. Works great but no sound for cd or dvd from sound card. I've checked in device mgr and audio devices all "working properly". Media player says "Cannot play back the audio stream; no audio hardware is
available or the hardware is not responding." When I hit details, it says there is no sound card. How can I check for this on this machine? Location? Sorry for the longwinded post...

If it is an onboard sound card, make sure that it is enabled in the BIOS.
