A few days ago, the router somehow factory reset itself and so the wifi name changed back to its original name. As of two days ago, devices have not been able to connect to the wifi. The link light on the modem is off and the Internet light on the router is off. Even after shutting off and turning back on both the router and the modem and doing a gactory reset on purpose devices cannot connect but the wifi name shows up in options. The router is a netgear c3000 and the modem is an Arris issued by the Internet company.

Can you connect to the internet using an ethernet connection?
If by that you mean, can we plug a computer in to the ethernet cable and then plug the other end directly in to the modem, that hasn't worked for us either.

If it is a modem only (not modem/router combo) did you remember to power cycle it when changing the device connecting to it?

Second question: can you successfully connect to the router by ethernet?
