I know you can play diablo 2 over bnet and over tcp/ip networks. However, is it possible to play from computer to computer? Like enter tcp/ip values of the host machine?

    Example:

Computer 1 connects to internet and hosts diablo game
Computer 2 connects to internet and joins diablo game by entering computer 1's ip address.

    Will this work?

I have no experience with diablo but you can do that with quake3, ut, etc.

If one of you can start a server, the other should be able to join.
Make the server password protected or you will probably get a crowd.

My son and I do it and if we forget we have all kinds of folks joining and playing in our little private wars
