Welcome to TSG

Go to http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe and download 'Hijack This!'.
make sure it is placed into it's own folder, not a temporary folder. Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log (in the security section)
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

If Merijn.org is still down due to the DDOS attack on it, the alternative download sites for Hijackthis are:
http://www.oneknight.co.uk
http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

HIJACK THIS RESULTS FOR DIALER 'GreatDownloads' aka 'Descripcion Favoritos' aka
'Conectar con el dialer de prueba'.

PROPERTIES: When clicked the dialer calls 09097920404. Access code: 00300074
Personal code: 10730794
run a dill as an app
Http://Launcheruk.escritorioactivo.com
Node Michael-BIG 212X
APC Michael-BIG 21x Michael
Conectar con el dialer de prueba = connect to the ? premium dialer (via Spain, Argentina, USA, etc)
Descripcion Favoritos = Description Favourites

Originally the dialer appeared only in the form of a yellow icon bearing the name
'GreatDownloads'. It appeared on the Desktop, attached itself to the Start menu, was in Favourites in Documents and Settings and embedded itself on the toolbar of Internet
Explorer in the top right hand corner near the minimise button and in the Favourites.
It was also found to have established itself in the Registry, was a cabinet file and had a couple of other locations too. Since being rooted out of the registry, with, unfortunately the rundll32.exe, to which we believe it may have been attached, it has lost its yellow coat and appears as Descripcion Favoritos in the Favourites and in Internet Explorer, but as Conectar con el dialer de prueba (? master dialer) on the Desktop and on the Start menu. It does not appear to have returned to the registry, but as some of the files are hidden, we cannot be sure of this. It appears shortly after the other desktop icons on booting up the computer. After being banished to the Recycle Bin, it is unusual for any more to appear, until the computer is rebooted. I am on the look-out for any files with a Spanish name, but have found no other versions so far. I have Adaware, the Yahoo pop-up stopper, SpySweeper, Spy Hunter and Spybot on the computer, which seem unable to recognise it, as is also the case with AVG. I have the Rocket Retrieval facility on the computer now and am very impressed with how quickly it locates files, but I think it might automatically execute .exe files, so have not dare used it, until I find out more about how it works.

Our computer is disabled now that we have no rundll32.exe. We have tried to reinstall it using the Windows XP Home disk, but without success. What are the chances that the rundill could be infected with the dialer? Also, if nothing else works and I am forced to reformat hard drives C and D, I would need to save my data. Is there any real danger of infection by doing this, as a significant amount is for professional purposes?

I am unsure whether the Hijack This programme actually removes the uninvited guests or only identifies them. Please advise me.

Thanking you in anticipation for your help. I will be making a donation to your Hedgehog programme and have followed the links re the sickening and barbaric 'sport' known as hunting. I will be making a donation to the RSPCA also.

Best regards,

Kathryn (xaghra) and husband Michael.
