Hello Friends!

What is the difference between Norton Internet Security 2004, 2005 & 2006? If I install NIS 2004 and update it completely via Live Update, is it going to work as well as NIS 2006?

Thank you.

I wouldn't upgrade to norton 2006. Norton uses to much of your computers resources "as in Memory".

It may be possible to guess at what is 'new' in NIS 2006 by studying the official list of Features; http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/internet_security/nis2006/features.html

2004 products (which date from 2003) are now the oldest ones that Symantec will support and, if it hasn't been withdrawn yet, I feel sure it soon will be. Withdrawal of support does not affect provision of definitions for NAV, but may stop program updates being made available.

Symantec products do have a reputation, whether or not it is deserved, of being resource hogs. I suspect that all the 'suites' of programs, which combine everything into one package, would be likely to slow down all but the highest specification computers.
