My Samsung Digimax Camera has been working fine with my Dell Inspirion...I am running Windows XP....all of a sudden instead of being read as the Camera after turning on...a file marked DCIX is popping up on the screen and showing that the Camera is a removable disk? I have tried different USB Cables and ports......can anyone give me any idea what else I should be looking for to solve this mystery and get pics out of camera. I am running a small web based business and need help asap!!!

    Thanks

Oh I'm over 40.....so please dumb down your answer to me!

You can just open that file and you should be able to drag and drop the photos to your hard drive. Otherwise, reinstall the Camera software.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera disk....still no read. Is it possible that the port on the camera is malfunctioning?

As simpswr says, go for that removable disk that pops up, that's the direct connection to the flash card in the camera anyway and the camera software just adds an extra layer that isn't needed and can get in the way.

You can open that removable disk (flash card) and pull the photos over to the computer with windows explorer or if you want to use a great management program, Picasa, set to detect photos on a newly plugged in removable storage device will even differentiate between old photos on the flash drive that have already been transfered to the computer and new ones that still need to be transferred.

Sometimes there is an option on the camera to change it so it comes up as a normal camera.
See if you can find this somewhere oon your in camera options.
