Disable Automatically Detect Settings

    I have a laptop that I use to access the internet via a wireless router. I do not have a problem getting online but when I open Internet Explorer I get an error message. I have to go into Tools, Internet options, Connections, LAN settings, and uncheck the Automatically detect settings everytime I reboot my computer. Then it works fine. I can close IE, open it back up and it still works. But as soon as I shut down my computer and turn it back on, that check mark is back there again. Is there a way to disable it so I don't have to change my settings everytime I reboot? I am running Windows XP.
