I would like to disable the touchpad on my dell inspiron 1520....I looked in the book, and it said to go to Hardware and sound in control panel, then click on keyboard, and I can use the mouse properties there to disable the touchpad. I don't have a hardware and sound category in my control panel. What do I do now?

You didn't say if your Dell Inspiron 1520 is running Windows XP or Windows Vista or Windows 7.

All 3 operating systems have a Mouse entry in the Control Panel.

The mouse properties window should have a setting for disabling the touchpad.
