I'm giving a computer to a friend and can't defrag it. About a year ago windows defrag quit working and I switched to dick keeper lite. The computer is running very slow and when I ran defrag it had over 4000 fragments before defragging. After defrag it said there was only 1, but the system was still slow. I analyzed the drive again with disk keeper and it said there were over 4000 fragments again, what can I do to fix this? Thaks for all the help.

    Howdy,

How old is the Hard drive?

You could try running a check disk on the drive

    Start>>Run type cmd click Ok.

In the Command Prompt type chkdsk /r click Enter

You will be asked if you want a check disk to run on next startup click Y and then press Enter

    Restart your PC
