i seem to have a number of files and parts on my c:\ drive that will not defrag. Running the defrag produces the same result and the drive stays fragmented. Any cures?

The only cure I know of is to go for a better defrag utility. Diskeeper does a boot-time defrag that consolidates directories and defrags the page file and registry.

XP will do a boot time defrag of pagefile and registry hives. I think it does this by default. Right now I can't remember where this setting is. Maybe someone else knows?
