    Hey all,
My disk usage is constantly running at 100% and I feel this might be contributing to some recent poor performance in my laptop. Anyone else had this problem or found a solution for it?
    Thanks!

Sorry about the delay in response. It is the free version. I also recently disabled Windows Defender per another suggestion from a different forum.

    Thank you for your assistance.

The hard drive in your computer has 372 GB of used space.
That's an indication of a LOT of installed programs and data.
It's my guess it has a large number of running processes.
It may also be infested with threats.

Yep, I do have a lot of installed programs and things, but my biggest problem is that the task manager doesn't show what is taking up all the disk speed. I also do need to run a virus scan. Meant to this weekend and forgot.

What security-related apps do you use besides Avast Antivirus?
That all by itself isn't going to protect your computer 100% from threats.
    Other security-related apps are needed.

I do not, what would you recommend? I have Malwarebytes as well but it isn't active protection as it is the free version.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials in Windows 7 and Windows Defender in Windows 10.
It automatically loads and runs in the background.

I also use Malwarebytes AdwCleaner and the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware.
I manually start and run them every 7 - 14 days and allow them to remove everything(if any) they find.

This combination works very well for me.

If you have questionable and unsafe computing habits, then you need to perform security maintenance more often and use additional apps.

When you have done with the recommendations of the scans
I will if you wish then continue with my analysis of the apparent slow performance
