    Hi,
Bit of a strange one here and I've trawled the microsoft knowledge base before posting to no avail.

problem: after installing sp2 (xp pro) the display settings for my primary monitor do not get saved and are reset on the next reboot.

parameters which are affected are as follows:

refresh rates reset from 85 Hz to 60 Hz
    screen resolution reset to 800 x 600
    taskbar moves to secondary display
all icons appear on primary display

    I have tried:
a)reinstalling the latest drivers from ati

b)using the reg tweak from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (line 30)

    c) clean install of xp pro

    no joy

    system spec:

    p4 3.4 EE
    2Gb RAM
    2 x 160 Gb SATA
    sapphire radeon 9800 pro 256Mb
    asus p4c800 MOBO
    ralink 2500 54g wireless card
    2x 19" monitors
    multi card reader
    OS: obviously XP pro

System was fine before sp2 went on there and I was heartily advised to install it by an IT proffessional mate of mine but it looks like I'll have to roll it back and be carefull while surfing.

I'd be most grateful for any assistance.
    cheers
