My display mode is stuck in 16 color and in 640x480 mode. I keep trying to change it to 256 color and to 600x800 mode. Every time I try this it tells me the computer needs to restart before the new settings can take place. When it restarts the settings are changing what do I do?

sounds like you need to reinstall your video drivers.
Do you still have the drivers that came with the card or you can download from the manufacturer's site

Yeah, it sounds like your video card drivers need to be reinstalled. If you're running 98 (SE) then you should see an advanced tab where you are setting your resolution. Click it and look down towards the bottom of the dialogue box. There should be a choice there that you can check so it won't restart windows when you change the settings.

    good luck
