I have a DSL connection with my computer. When I'm on Windows, and browse the web, sometimes it would just stop working (I'd ping Google and get a request time out if anything at all) and would have to turn off my router and DSL modem and turn it back on. When I use Linux, I don't have this problem (but once or twice it had). Whats going on?

Could be a number of things . . including a Modem that needs to be replaced . . could be the Router disrupting the connection . . if your ROuter has a firmware update, try that to see if it gets better

The modem and router are only a year old. The firmware is the latest version. Yes, I am using Earthlink...why?

lucky guess, I had nothing but trouble, everyday I would lose connection at least 4 times a day, one day 22 times, no kidding, I kept track of the times & dates, several times lost connection for 12 hours, they couldn't resolve it & of course it was my fault, I switched to Bellsouth , been with them for 4 months & never lost a connection. Solved that problem!

I switched from Bellsouth to Earthlink...I had worse with them. Its not that I constantly loose connection, I only loose it when I'm on Windows. It seems to be when I'm trying to load certain files, such as a .mov or something like that
