Hi 7A9h,
Dllhost.exe running can be caused by a virus.
Read here:
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_d.htm
Do not "End Task" it as there is no way to determine whether DLLHOST has completed its task or not. For the more advanced users, however, deleting the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Java VM\MSDebug" can often solve the problem of DLLHOST constantly appearing in the Task List. Finally, if you keep getting DLLHOST errors on a Windows 2000/XP/2003 PC, then you may have the Welchia virus.
It may be prudent to post a HijackThis log.

Merijn has now developed a beta version of HijackThis which is designed to detect and correct the Qhosts problem too. It is perfectly stable and will soon be released.
Get it here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/beta/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, then Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Good stuff Ken.
Let's finish up here.
Did you also turn off system restore and reboot. Then re-enable it.?

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

Reboot and delete:
C:\Program Files\ClearSearch\ <-- folder
C:\PROGRAm Files\COMMON Files\BTLINK\ <-- folder
C:\Program Files\ClearSearch\Loader.exe <-- file..obviously should be gone when you delete the folder above :)

Could you tell us a bit about this ? What is it ?

The only thing I could find on Belt.exe under properties is a privacy software company named better internet, inc.

not sure how it got there but my guess is something to do with the coolsearch program I removed.

Anyway, thanks for your time and input, very much appreciated.

Both exe and ini files checked out ok. Feels good to have control of my computer again after removing that coolsearch program, what a nightmare.

Thanks for all for the help.
