Does anyone know what the file DLTIME.dll is used for and if I can reload this file? My friend's XP computer had a Norton error stating there was a keylogger-trojan virus on the DLTIME.dll file that could not be removed. I tried to fix the problem by deleting the c:\winnt\dltime.dll file but now get the following error message whenever they boot the computer:

svchost.exe - Unable To Locate Component
This application has failed to start because dltime.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I need to know if DLTIME.dll can be copied back or what program to re-install? Thanks!

SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their
definition updates
and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything
they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
SpyBot - After an update run immunize

Do these and reboot before the next step.

Then get HiJack This http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html, put
it in a permanent folder (C:\HJT) , run it , DO NOT fix anything, post the
log here.

dltime.dll is loaded by the Tofger trojan and is a keylogger. It is usually received by email. Follow the directions in the previous post and let the experts help you remove the trojan.

Most of the up-to-date anti-virus programs will prevent infection. What program is your friend using?

MFDnSC,
Sorry for the delay in responding but had to arrange to get access to my friends' computer.
AdAware and Spybot were already installed. Updated them and removed any findings.
Loaded and ran SpywareBlaster -- enabling all protection as you directed.
Did a cold-boot. After XP was up, my same error message appeared again.
Ran HJT. Here's the info:
