DMA poser..hmmmmm

I was reading somewhere that if you look at the settings of your disk drives in many cases the DMA box should be checked.I've checked mine and it isnt, but I'm not sure as to whether to in case it causes any problems or if all systems are compatible with enabling it.
Any advice on the issue would be great.

oh yeah using windows 98 SE and have an AMD Duron processor

Should work fine, In general checking it and rebooting it will either be enabled after reboot or it won't enable.

Enabling DMA is good for resource hungry applications like gaming or dv editing. You may have to enable in bios, but some older mobos don't support it.

Thanks for the advice, I've enabled it and havent had any problems, in fact everything seems (fingers crossed) to be running a little bit faster.
