a freind just gave me a computer that worked last time i knew but when i got it home and set it up i found it did not have a hard drive in it so i took one out of a old computer that was missing its operating system and wouldn't let me format the drive or restall windows fojr som reason so i dont know if that hard drive is any good either but anyways i put it into the one im working on but it doesnt seem to make any difference.
when i turn on the power the only thing that happens is the lights on the tower come on and i can hear the fan for the prossecer spinning. the monitor doesnt come on and the a drive doesnt seem to read because the green light doesnt com on at all but i know the a drive is still good because i put the one that was in the old one in the knew one.
    please help

    HI autocadam,
    Welcome to TSG.
Have you checked you checked the jumpers on the hard drive?
You might check H/D's website to find out iff they are right,
    could be set to slave.

the hard drive only has three pins that could act act as the jumppers but it does not have the jumper plug that would be used to switch between master and slave

    autocadam,
Hey, sorry about the chat, but they were right.
Look between the power and main cable, there should be a slot
with 8-10 pins and a plastic jumper for 2 pins.
