I recently formatted one of my 2 hard drives due to the fact that it had just crashed because of too many viruses, spyware, trojans, etc. When my daughter used this computer to go to a website, it told her she needed Open GL or Direct X. I tried to download the newest version of DirectX on microsoft.com but when I did, I received this error message,
    DirectX 9.0 Web setup
Error creating process<C:\DOCUME~1|Dad~1|LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP000.TMP|dxwsetup.exe>. Reason: The system cannot find the path specified.

When my son tried to play a game called Paintbrawl 4 the game shut down before it had a chance to get going. When I try to go to various sites, like ESPN or USATODAY, the IE window shuts down on its own.

Before formatting the harddrive (and reinstalling XP Pro), I/we never had these problems. I'm not sure if I need more plug ins or if it's because there's a problem with my version of Directx or what.

Has anyone had any similar problems to this?
