I am the only user of my home network.
If I connect my computers with cables only and if I don't allow remote connections, am I more at risk (from online intruders) when I don't use passwords than when I do ?

I am talking about passwords to log in to the computers.

The purpose of a log-in password is to prevent other people(family, friends, etc.) from accessing and using your computers without your knowledge.
If you're the only person using them and don't keep important sensitive information(documents, records, etc.) stored in them, there's no need to password protect them.
Keeping them properly maintained and up-to-date and having safe on-line habits is what's important.
