Version 1909. Of course I have no idea what that means.

You've been very kind and I don't want to waste your time anymore. Perhaps I'll just live with the Yahoo pop-up. Old American expression: "Let sleeping dogs lie." In other words, maybe I shouldn't rock the boat!

Sorry for all the cliches.

That shows it is the Windows version released November 2019.

If you wish to live with the pop-up that’s fine.
If it’s just a popup rather than a full webpage then try an adblocker.
Another suggestion if you wish to continue is that there’s malware on the PC.

Thank you again. You've been very generous with your time and advice. I've had great experiences with everyone who uses this Techguy site. (Maybe they should call it "Techperson" so it's not gender specific? (Just a thought.)

I'm curious about exactly what this is. When you first boot up your computer and enter your password your Opera browser opens to a Yahoo page? Is that correct?

Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click the FRST64.exe then select "Run as administrator."
  • When the tool opens click on Yes to reply to the disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button to start the scan.
  • When the scan is finished there will be two logs created FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same location where you downloaded the tool.
  • Please copy and paste the reports from both of those logs here.

I managed to find a photo which is the least irritating - guess I'll have to live with it.
Try a Google image search for solid blue wallpaper. The results should show true solid blue images as well as images with blue gradients or simple blue patterns. Choose one you like and save it in your Pictures folder. You can then go back to the Lock Screen settings, choose Picture, and browse to and choose the downloaded blue picture file.
