If you do, and you’ve tried to do a system restore via; Ctrl + F11 and had nothing happed, the chances are that you have at one time or another did a "fixmbr" or "fdisk /mbr". This will remove the DSR “Dell System Restore” from the MBR. I post this because I ran into this very issue. I found the fix and it worked great. Read the whole article prior to this procedure.

DSRFIX is not a Dell utility, so I can't imagine a Dell tech telling you about it. I suggest you take another look at it.

100% sure that is what he told to download, and I did, and we ****ed around with it! But it didn't see it on my HD, in any folders! We tried to put it a couple of different folders, but the comp (DOS) didn't see it! Anything else, or how can I make it so it sees it?

Download the dsrfix.zip file that will have the ISO so you can create a bootable CD. Put it the CD\ROM and reboot the computer. At the prompt type DSRFIX /F this will reload the MBR that’ll give you the Dell recovery option.

Where do I find this "dsfrfix.zip" file, and should I just burn the ISO file, that is inside of it? After I burn it what should I do? What r my next step? I put the CD with a file in the computer, I press F8 to change the boot sequence, it will read the ISO file, and then what?

The link to the file is in the first post in this thread. All the instructions, including building the bootable CD are there as well.
