does a dvd-rom drive read dvd9?

    hi i want to buy a dvd-rom NOT a burner juut so i can back up dvd's to my computer as iso files will a dvd-rom drive read dvd9 and let me make iso's of dvd9's?

    i dont believe it does, if you would like to backup, say Xbox games which are DVD9, then normally you have to FTP the "chipped" Box to the PC and transfer the file to pc. www.xboxscene.com (i think, thats the right website) is a good website to get all that type of info. it isnt as easy as you think, (trust me)
