I downloaded some windows udates and defragged the hard drive. turned off the computer thinking all was well. Restarting the next day I had a big problem. windows would not load. I put in the startup floppy and ran scandisk only to discover that it didn't recognize my hard drives (one drive partitioned into C and D). I don't have the original OS on a cd (that's in the D drive -compressed). I do have the cd updating from 98 to 98se. I'm not to sure on how to extract the drivers from the cab files on my cd to get the hard drives recognized. Does any one know where I can read up on this problem?

Just curious, are the drives recognized in the BIOS?
