I need to rename several files from '#### Name with spaces.mp3' to just 'Name with spaces.mp3' on a machine that I can not run unapproved .exe files. Lacking both perl and python, I need to resort to DOS batch files. I'm running on WinXP.

I saw the post with the following batch:

@Echo Off

For %%A in (%~f1\0*.rrt) Do Call :REN %~f1 %%A
GoTo :EOF

:REN
Set File=%~nx2
Ren %~f1\%File% BCX%File:~4%
GoTo :EOF

However, I do not know enough about batch scripting to modify this to my needs. If you know of a site that gives details on DOS regular expressions and batch scripting, that would also be very helpful.

Thanks for your time.
