DOS comes up with critical error

    I have kepy win 98 so I can still play my old Dos based games. I tried to install a game called stonekeep as soon as I did a critical error came up I checked the disc it's fine I've tried another game and same thing there's no error message except for critical error check cd it's not the cd. What could be wrong with DOS??? Please help

    Have you booted directly into DOS by hitting the F8 key during the boot and selecting command prompt only? See if it woriks there.

    no what will that accomplish ? I am fairly computer literate but when it comes to DOS I'm a moron
