I brought a copy of a pretty old game today on floppy disk. I got the game installed on my hard drive no problem but now cannot run it.
    Directions in the instructions are:

at A> prompt switch to correct drive (for example type c: and press enter)
type cd\monkey.vga and press enter (to change to the correct directory)
type monkey and press enter (to start the game)

I can get to the correct directory but when I type monkey and press enter I get the message 'bad command or file name'

Anyone know what's up and how I can fix it?

    get into dos
    get into the directory
    type in dir *.exe
is anything remotely resembling monkey (like playmonkey.exe for example) in the list? if not, is there anything such as play.exe or game.exe?

try that file (for game.exe, type game and press enter,)
and dont try dos4gw.exe since it screws up some systems

also try searching for .bat, .com file (dir *.com and dir*.bat)

Ok, then try the DIR /P *.exe Command.

That worked but there wasn't anything that looked like it could be the game
