    Using internet explorer
Getting double emails from just about everyone who sends one.
Is there something that can be changed to eliminate a duplicate?

What email program are you using?? Outlook Express?? Webmail through Internet Explorer using hotmail or other webmail service?

Do you have any rules to move emails from one folder to another?

    Hi Randy;
I use outlook express and use Ad aware & spybot to clear up spyware on a daily basis
I have an auto responder for my real estate that sends updated listings to several people, and it sends double copies to me.
Very few emails come through as singles.
    Most are double copies.

make sure you don't have your email address in your auto-responder twice. That would be the most likely cause, if you don't have rules setup in Outlook.

This could help if you are using OE to access your email under certain protocols.

    Double Email Messages

That can happen if your Hotmail or IMAP account is the default mail account and OE is configured to both open directly to the Inbox (which downloads headers automatically) and check for new messages when starting (which also downloads headers automatically). To stop the duplicates, simply choose one option or the other, but not both. Click Tools | Options, then remove the check mark for "When starting, go directly to my 'Inbox' folder" OR the check mark for "Send and receive messages at startup". If you already have duplicates showing, click Tools | Synchronize Account or Synchronize All.

    Will try this.
I did have the box checked to send and receive messages at startup, so I un checked it.
I do have another emal site that sends mail to my outlook express, so hopefully by removing the check mark this might prevent duplicate emails.
Still have not been able to get rid of the viagra or medications emails because the words are changed from everyone.
    Thanks for you help.

I have been having problems with mail arriving in OE in duplicate also. I'd had the problem a couple of years ago and either didn't write down the fix for it, or lost it...and there's no way I'd remember!
In any case, after a good hour total time & several calls to MS tech support hoping each time to get someone who might be able to actually help, and getting absolutely nowhere, I stumbled across this site. I can feel my headache subsiding already. =) Deke, I have tried your suggestion & so far it seems to be working. I'll see what happens when I open OE tomorrow. Thanks for your help!!
