Download speeds question

i just did a speed test on
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest
and i got like 3300kb/s dwnld and 600kb/s upload

however when i download, i can get a max of 400kb/s
is there some sort of conversion factor or something?

Your download speed is 3300kbps or 400KBps. The first number is in bits and the second is in bytes. A byte is 8 bits. Does that answer your question?
