refer back to my post on another forum around this time last year when I posted about assumed AV updates making my PC unresponsive for up to 10 minutes. At the time I blamed AVG 2012 for this assming the activity was updates coming from them.
I was advised to quit AVG by a lot of people but I kept it as the problem was somewhat reduced with a little help from this forum.
OK I am now totaly fed up as the problem seems to be getting worse. It now sems to happen in random bursts as well as on boot up.

And the thing is I now know it's not caused by AV updates as I have AVG 2013 free edition which updates automaticaly every day and shows the time of the update which does not correspond with the bursts of crippling activity which I take to be some form of updates.

Can anyone help please I am uttery sick of this. All options will be considered!

Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save HiJackThis 2.0.4

After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click it to install it.

Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files.

After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load.

Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis".

Click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

When the scan is finished in 30 - 60 seconds, a log file will appear.

    Save that log file.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE log file here.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Start HiJackThis.

Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button.

Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.

Click on the "Save List" button.

    Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere.

    It'll then open in Notepad.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE file here.

Your computer appears to be infested with malware/spyware.

It has a severely bloated startup load.

It has 2 antivirus programs (AVG and McAfee) installed and running at the same time.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Where is the second log that I requested?

    Hi Flavellee
I thought all logs were sent. I will re do the Hijack this scan and try again to send it all but it won't be until tonight as I'm out from now on.
There are not two AVS runnung (at least I think not)
According to the McAfee interface I am only using it's firewall with all other features turned off and in fact it has red warnings to turn on the AV function as I'm not protected'
This was how my PC was set up when I first got it. AVG Free version with a McAfee firewall. I do fairly regular malware checks with'Superantispyware which seems to work, what do you reccomend as I'm shocked my PC seems infested with malware etc.
How do I improve the start up load?
Thanks so much for your prompt and expert support.
    It is very appreciated.
    Ray

The second part of post #2 has the steps on how to obtain and submit the "uninstall_list.txt" log.

The purpose of that log is to see what's currently installed in your computer and what may need to be uninstalled, updated, added, or replaced.

That needs to be done first before the startup load is reduced

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Unless you specifically need a third-party firewall for some reason, the built-in Windows firewall will suffice.

    Hi
I have done the scan and log file again and there appear to be two seperate scans which are here. I have copied and pasted this here but it does not seem to be as much as is on the log scan?
I hope this is what we need now? If not I am at a loss to understand how to transfer the whole log file for ou to see. Ray

The instructions in the second part of post #2 are very easy to follow.

Without that log, I can't proceed any further.

    Hello again
I have carefully followed the instructions on Hijack this for a 2nd time so I don't know what is going wrong?
The instructions do appear easy so it's a mystery to me what is happening to the 2nd part of the log.
As I dont know of any other way to send the logs I am copying the logs and then pasting them onto this forum. Is there a problem there? can the whole logs be sent in file or attachment form? I am very limited in my PC knowledge I'm afraid!
I get the impression you are iritated with my 'incompetence?' but I promise you I want to solve this problem and am grateful for your help.
So if you (or anyone else) can help me get past the problem of supplying the 2nd part of the log I will be very happy. In case you have run out of patience with me, well thanks anyway but I really hope this is not the case because I am desperate to help you help me.
    Ray

You didn't have any problem with copying-and-pasting the HiJackThis scan log here(3 times), so I don't know why you're having such a problem with copying-and-pasting the HiJackThis "uninstall_list.txt" log here.

Do the following in the order that they're listed.

Advise me when you're all done.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save

    Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.11

    Adobe Reader 11.0.1

Click the blue "Download now" link to download and save

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.70.0.1100

Just download and save them for now and don't install them yet.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Go to Control Panel - Add Or Remove Programs.

    Uninstall/remove these programs and extras:

    Acrobat.com

    Adobe AIR

    Apple Software Update

    Babylon Chrome Toolbar
