I was extolling the virtues of TSG and my father overheard my conversation. He's got it in his 86-year-old-mind that he's going to finally finish his memoirs and wants to do so as a voice-to-text enterprise. Because of his age and health conditions, he can speak into a recorder and will then pay someone to transfer those sound files to text files that he can later edit. Okay, okay. I'll get to the point already.

On his old Dell desktop, he's got Windows XP running but with SP 2. In trying to configure his desktop, I got rid of a lot of unnecessary programs and wanted to download MSE, SAS, and MBAM. When I use Internet Explorer to open Microsoft's Download Center, I get only a blank page.

When I use Chrome, I am able to get to the MSE download but get an error message that says SP 3 is required. So, I went to MS's Update page and got all the updates, including SP 3, and performed the recommended express installation. Rebooted and SP 2 still shows on MyComputer's properties.

So what should I do next? Try to divert my father's attention by bringing a young-ish buxom nurse and leave the desktop alone?
