I am trying to get openoffice on my computer. When I download the file, all I get is a file that is a read file. I then have to open it in windows word. The readout is in some sort of "gibberish". How can I get this to read out in plain English? The file does download from the internet and is full length, so I believe it is the right file. But how can I install it when I can't decipher how to do it? Any help will be apprecited. willya29

It would help if you gave us a link. I've downloaded several versions of OpenOffice, and I've never had any issues.

One thing to beware of is to disable any download managers, because I believe if I just click on the link, GetRight downloads some nonsense, not the actual installation file.
