When I download a file, it attempts to be saved on drive A: Why? Why not C:?
All this started when I downloaded the Startup CPL to a floppy on Drive A: Now everything I want to download wants to go to Drive A: When I click on Save drive A: start buzzing; then it says: Drive A: is not formatted. Do I want to format it? How can I correct this problem? I used to save to my download files on drive C: automatically.

Hi, From what I have seen in the past, this is usually the first indication that your floppy drive itself is going bad.
Might also just need cleaning- there are kits that clean the drive, I have not used them, tho.
You can try in the Device Manager & remove the floppy drive, reboot and let Windows reinstall it...
Try downloading the same file, but this time, switch to your drive C: and put the file on the desktop.
Also- can you take an old floppy with something not really all that important on it, put it in the drive- will the drive let you read the file?
If you still have that floppy and file that you downloaded...and if you do not need it anymore, put the disk in and delete the file or try to format the disk. If formatting does not finish, or you get the error, it usually means the drive is bad.

Aren't you being offered a Browse button? Also, what options are you offered if you right-click and choose Save Target As...?
