Dreadfully slow after format+reinstall

HI anybody ever hear of a computer that is really reallly really slow after a clean install! This one does! Any body have anyt clews on how to fix it? Or what the problem is? I think i could of damaged the cpu or mobo not sure though! The installation was even slow took bout 4 hours! Really anoying...Any one any ideas????

What did you do as a "clean install"? The reason I ask is because you said, "I think i could of damaged the cpu or mobo not sure though!" This opportunity should not be a part of a clean install!!!

Also, why were you doing a "clean install", trying to fix a problem???

Make sure your computer's BIOS has everything up to speed like it should. Correct multiplier, correct FSB, correct memory speed and timing etc.

have you also installed any drivers for motherboard, etc
