Having trouble loading drivers for a re-installation of a DELL dimension computer.
The OS disk worked OK but the "drivers and utilities disk" would not work.
The disk is supposed to be a bootable one but I only get a pulsing curser and when I try to find its contents using windows explorer, it does not "see" the disk in the drive. And yes, I fixed the priority for booting favoring the ROM drive.

Any help would be much appreciated

If you did a hard drive format and a clean install of XP in that Dell, the device drivers on the driver CD are probably outdated anyway.

What's the 7-character service tag number on the sticker, and what's the model number of that Dell Dimension?

Zeke:

Here is the support and software site that's specific only to your Dell Dimension 2350 desktop. You should add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it when needed.

Here are the device and chipset drivers that you need:

Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility
Version: 6.3.0.1007
Date: 12/16/2004

Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
Version: 6.14.10.4342
Date: 03/16/2006

Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio
Version: 5.12.01.3538
Date: 02/28/2003

Broadcom 4401 Integrated NIC
Version: 3.63
Date: 08/05/2003

Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
Version: 5.30
Date: 04/29/2003

Download and save them and then burn them off to a CD-R or USB thumb drive.

Install the Intel chipset driver first, then restart your computer.

Install the Intel graphics driver and Analog Devices audio driver next. Restart your computer after installing each one.

I'm not sure which Broadcom network driver you need, but I'm guessing it's the 4401 driver because of the age of your computer. You'll know for sure after you install it and restart your computer.

After you're done, let me know how it went.

All my work wasn't in vain. :D :)

Burn them off and save them so you'll have them in the future, if needed. (y)

My Dell driver disk is not a boot disk, its just run after xp is installed, and you pick the appropriate drivers.
