Does anyone know where I can find the driver for the speaker control (the little speaker in the task bar)?

I deleted it by accident and now have no sound, sound controls, etc.

    THANKS

Re-install your sound card driver and it should come back.

i dont have the sound card driver.

scored this p/c on Flee Bay it came with nothing but the o/s installed on the p/c with the code. no disks at all. i think i am f.u.b.a.r

i checked the control panel/ sound... but there is nothing to click that will turn it on.

let me look around my p/c.

i know i deleted something but what controls that little speaker... see next paragraph.

i deleted a driver last night related to the speaker control in the corner by the clock (in the task bar) in a fit of exhaustion & by accident (i was up 2 days fighting spy-agent.bc... its still there so i am loosing the battle).

The speaker is gone and the sound went with it.

it's not a driver for the speaker control, it's a driver for the sound card.

does it show up in device manager? any !!!! next to it?

uninstall the media stuff in device manager, reboot and xp should see it should see and install it.

I suggested the re-install the sound card software because he has no sound and this is the only way I know right now to try and get it back and all of the sound components depend on the drivers. Actually I would install the drivers no matter what, I have had computers that do not show any defects in Device Manager and work fine afterward

well, this p/c came with no software... just an installed o/s (win 2000).

I dont have the drivers (on disk) for the sound card, for the o/s, for nothing.

if I did i would definitely try that.

is the sound card labeled anywhere?

can i find the maker in the control panel?

i've been looking around but can't seem to find out who made the sound card.
